POSITION
DESCRIPTION
ARCHITECT I
Summary:
Performs moderately complex architectural assignments and
is responsible for the daily design or technical development of a project. Uses
independent judgment, making minor adaptations and modifications as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (It is not the
intent for this to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities
associated with this position.)

Responsible for daily design or technical development of
moderately complex projects;

Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard
architectural techniques, procedures, and criteria using independent judgment
in making minor adaptations and modifications;

Assignments have clear and specified objectives and
require the investigation of a limited number of variables;

Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives,
complex features, and possible solutions;
-
Directs job specific project teams, including
consultants;
-
Establishes basic budgets for construction;
-
Has basic knowledge of specification sections and
systems;
-
Completes an entire architectural project of a more
general scope from concept through working drawings;
-
Effectively utilizes computer assisted design software
programs as an aid in developing architectural projects;
-
Performs other duties as requested.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college of
university and three plus years related experience and/or training; or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must possess current California Architect License
Must possess current driver's license
NCARB certification encouraged
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct supervision of specific production staff and/or
interns may be required;

May supervise and/or coordinate the work of others who
assist in specific assignments;

Actively supports intern development program
requirements.
Special Requirements/Physical Demands/Working
Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office setting with
minimal health and safety hazards. Noise level and temperature are moderate.
Minimal lifting or climbing is required. Some travel such as, but not limited
to, other offices, work sites, seminars, and business related errands is
required; may require employee to drive, or fly, including use of company
aircraft . Requires operating office machines such as, but not limited to,
computers, copiers, phone and fax.
Communication Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business
periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures/reports/documents or
government regulations. Posses the ability to write reports and business
correspondence; is able to speak effectively in front of groups of employees and
or clients of the firm.
Reasoning Ability and/or Critical Thinking:
Possesses the ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive
variety of technical instruction. Constructive thinking and alternative short
to long term solutions must be considered. Action plans must be developed and
implemented.
