Point Arena Joint Union High School District

Point Arena High School is located in the remote north coastal community of Point Arena and has a student population of approximately 190 students. The school was originally built in the 1930’s and as it grew, buildings were added to the site.
Early in 2004, ASAi began working with the District to develop a cohesive Master Plan. The plan would involve the relocation of several portable buildings and a campus-wide modernization. While doing the locally funded modernization, the District discovered that their original school building was structurally unsound and had to be demolished.
The Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) originally informed the District that they were not eligible for funding as they had more than enough classrooms to house their student population. ASAi helped Point Arena High School obtain Hardship Funding for the 9,000 square foot replacement Auditorium/Administration building. The Auditorium was constructed using an Insulated Concrete Wall System (ICF) construction, which proved to be a distinct challenge in a remote community like Point Arena. The adjacent Administration building was pre-engineered and delivered in components that were joined on site.
This project was completed in September, 2008.
