In an effort to provide a facility where traditional bid-build, on-site construction failed on multiple occasions, Aspen Street joined a design-build team with an innovative approach for the project. Aspen Street assembled a performance specification and schematic drawings for a component built facility under an 8a general contractor. The design-build team worked with the military so that manufacturers’ bids would meet budget expectations. Modern Renovators Inc of Loretto, TN was the successful bidder, and working with Aspen Street on both the Medical and Dental Clinics, was able to expedite delivery of the components to the site and complete construction. The final product was component based, steel frame with concrete decks, built to International Building Code standards. The Medical Aid Station contains four exam rooms and a treatment room, as well as accessory lab spaces. The Dental Clinic houses two dental treatment rooms, as well as the staff space for the medical complex. Both buildings are significant to the growth of Creech Air Force Base. The buildings have also proven to be a successful building technology for remote regions with tight schedules.
Medical Clinic: New 2,772 sf component flight medicine clinic, built in 4 components to include 4 exam rooms, a treatment room and pharmacy $1,500,000.
Dental Clinic: New 1,344 sf component dental clinic, built in 2 components to include 2 dental treatment rooms and staff support. $750,000.
Aspen Street Architects is currently working an a Phase 2 expansion for this project.
